Every year, a group of students at my school travels to Villa El Salvador, Perú to do service for the community. We have built houses, created gardens, and taught English to children at the local daycare, Centro de Atención Integral Infantil, Mi Pequeño Belén. We have grown close with the families of Villa and it touches our hearts how they look forward to our visit each year.
Recently, the local volunteer and foreman who coordinates our efforts and leads us in construction, Teodoro Huamani Palomino (Teo), fell from a ladder and is in the hospital requiring major surgery. He had offered to host us at his home which is within walking distance from the daycare and construction projects. Now, his unfortunate injury will keep him bedridden.
We will continue our mission to serve the community of Villa El Salvador.
However, we need your help.
We will refocus our construction efforts toward planting sustainable fruit trees with the children from the daycare. This will give the community many benefits which will last long after we return home. Additionally, we now have to rent both a hostel and a bus to transport our group to and from the site each day. In order to be able to pay for the costs of housing, transportation, and fruit trees, we need to raise $2,000 by the 27th of May, which is only days away.
We would be extremely grateful and appreciative if you could contribute what you can to support us.
